# 0388 Silver Spur Mine This built up kit is for sale for $305 and you can buy the diorama for aditonal $150. The Silver Spur Mine was made up of parts from the Campbell plans. In other words, I made the kit from raw material and then assembled it. The diarama was built with plaster castings of my own design to look like rock formations that represent Apache stone or a shist type of rock. The castings were painted with Apache Stone rock powder (#1160) mixed into Carpenters glue and water. #1165 Rip Rap was applied to the slope at the front and at the base of the rock castings. #1163 Apache Sand and Gravel was spread out for the general ground cover. I have noticed in Arizona that people placer mine gold and silver in areas were this type of Shist rock is found so it's fitting to use for this mine scene. |

Timber Oil DerrickThe model of this Timber Oil Derrick is from a prototype found in Bakersfield CA. It is an extremely difficult model to build because of all the angles in the walls and roof. In particular, the roof has a built in twist in the center tunnel portion like the prototype as the carpenter's had to follow the variant wall heights. The model occupies a space of 3 & ¾" X 9" Price is $305.00 plus shipping in the USA only |

![]() This built up mine is narrow gauge country in Colorado that may have been served by the Rio Grande Southern. When one drives North from Silverton you climb over Red Mountain pass where the prototype mine was located. Special detailing was done by creating holes in the roof exposing the framing members. The original "red" color was faded away from years of wind, rain, snow, wind and neglect. The tin roof has been weathered with my rust pigments and sealed with dull coat. A scenery base is included with our Desert Plumb "rock Powder Pigment, sand and gravel and rugged rock. Three hand crafted trees are planted behind the structure with some of our foliage ground cover. There is a narrow gauge roadbed with ties serving the front ore dump. $350.00 plus shipping only in the U.S.A. This diorama should sell for $700.00 for all the time and effort to build it. |
On August 20th, we went to the Prescott "Beat the Heat" swap meet as usual, but this time I had no intention to buy anything. Right now, I'm in the sell mod and don't need anything new. What can change that is if something is going for really cheap like this Water Tank kit. I built and sold one a couple years ago, but this one gave me an opportunity to "trick" it out a little different. The kit was missing the parts for the corrugated tool shed which I didn't like anyway so I scratch built one out of wood. A lot of time is spent building the wood parts for the water tank roof, so made it look like the wind blew some panels off to see the detail. The diorama base is 3/8, 6" X 10" plywood covered with brown paper bag with scenery applied. |
Bob's Super Service finally got the high highway sign lite so motorist can easily see where to fuel up at night. While I was at it, a few other lights were installed in the building and around the property. |
