Kit Number 15 - Sage Brush

For years I have used clump foliage to repesent Sage Brush which is fine in most instances. For close up scenes they look toy like and thought they should look more realistic. I have used natural wood twigs for this in the past, but find out they break easily. Jute Twine string teated with Linseed oil, Turpint....

Silverado Mine

The Silveraro Mine is an interesting group of structures that was scratch built many years ago from a magazine ad picture. I used coffee stir sticks for lining the ore bins. Campbell corrugated metal over cardboard was used for the shaft house.

This built up mine is narrow gauge country in Colorado that may have been served by the Rio Grande Southern. When one drives North from Silverton you climb over Red Mountain pass where the prototype mine was located. Special detailing was done by creating holes in the roof exposing the framing members. The original "red" color was faded away from years of wind, rain, snow, wind and neglect. The tin roof has been weathered with my rust pigments and sealed with dull coat. A Lit Service Station Sign out of Brass

Bob's Super Service finally got the high highway sign lite so motorist can easily see where to fuel up at night. While I was at it, a few other lights were installed in the building and around the property.
